Under Queensland gas legislation, any work on the fixed gas installation past the meter is licensed work. Retailers won't always tell you this — here's the rule set that keeps your family safe and your insurance intact.
What Requires a Licensed Gas Fitter
Connecting the appliance, pressure testing, changing the injectors between LPG/NG, moving the gas point, and issuing the compliance certificate.
What You Can Do
Buy the appliance, remove the old one from the benchtop (once gas is capped by a fitter), install the trim and clean up. That's it.
Compliance Certificate
Non-negotiable. Insurance will refuse a claim on a gas incident if no certificate exists.
