CCTV Drain Inspection: What to Expect in a Brisbane Home

    28 March 2026 5 min read

CCTV cameras have replaced guesswork for anything but the simplest drain blockage. Here's what happens on a typical Brisbane job and what you should get out of it.

    The Process

A self-propelled or push-rod camera runs the line from the inspection opening. The plumber records the run, marks distance to defects, and locates them above-ground with a sonde.

    What You Should Receive

MP4 video, a written report with distances, and photos of key defects. Don't accept 'yeah it's stuffed' verbal-only reports.

    When to Book

After a second blockage in 12 months, before buying a property, or after major earthworks near the pipe.

    Cost

$350–$650 in Brisbane and Logan, often waived if you proceed with relining or excavation.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need council approval to fix what the camera finds?

Only for sewer works crossing council land. On-property repairs need a licensed plumber and a Form 4/9 compliance certificate.
