Leak Detection Logan
Tracing and repairing water leaks in homes across Logan — from an obvious drip under the sink to the hidden leak behind an unexplained water bill.
Signs you may have a water leak
Leaks are not always visible. Plenty of the ones we attend were found by a homeowner who noticed something small and odd rather than water on the floor.
- A water bill noticeably higher than usual with no change in usage
- The water meter still ticking over with every tap closed
- Damp, stained or bubbling patches on walls, ceilings or floors
- A musty or mouldy smell in one room or cupboard
- Warped skirting, lifting tiles or soft flooring
- An area of the garden that stays wet in dry weather
- The sound of running water inside a wall
- Reduced water pressure with no obvious explanation
Why plumbing leaks shouldn't be ignored
A leak does not stay the same size. Water follows the easiest path, and over time it will find timber, plasterboard, insulation and cabinetry. By the time a ceiling stain appears, the water has usually been travelling for a while.
Wasted water
Even a modest continuous leak adds up across a billing period, and you are paying for every litre of it.
Structural damage
Persistent moisture degrades timber, plaster and flooring, and repairing that is almost always dearer than the plumbing fix.
Mould and air quality
Damp cavities in a humid South East Queensland climate are ideal conditions for mould, which brings its own health and remediation problems.
Our leak detection & repair process
- 1
Understand the symptoms
We start with what you have noticed — when it began, which areas are affected, and what the bill and meter are telling us. This narrows the search considerably before we touch anything.
- 2
Isolate and test
By shutting off sections of the system and observing the meter and fixtures, we work out which part of the plumbing is losing water rather than opening walls on a hunch.
- 3
Confirm the source
We inspect the likely area to pinpoint the actual fault — a failed joint, a corroded section of pipe, a leaking fixture or a fitting that has worked loose.
- 4
Explain the options
You get a plain explanation of what has failed, what the repair involves and what it will cost, before we proceed.
- 5
Repair and verify
We carry out the repair, then re-test to confirm the leak has genuinely stopped rather than simply moved out of sight.
If a pipe has already burst and water is running, turn off the mains at the meter and call us — that is an emergency plumbing job, not a detection one.

Leak detection FAQs
How do I know if I have a hidden water leak?
The usual clues are a water bill that has climbed without a change in habits, damp or discoloured patches on walls, floors or ceilings, a musty smell in one part of the house, or the sound of running water when every tap is off.
Can I check for a leak myself before calling?
Yes. Turn off every tap and water-using appliance, then check the water meter. If the dial is still moving, water is going somewhere it should not be. That single check tells us a lot before we arrive.
Does a small leak really matter?
It does. A slow leak inside a wall or under a slab can run for months, and the damage to timber, plaster and flooring usually costs far more to put right than the plumbing repair itself.
Can low water pressure mean a leak?
Sometimes. Pressure loss has several possible causes, but an unexplained drop across the whole house — especially alongside a higher bill — is worth investigating rather than accepting.
Do you repair the leak once you find it?
Yes. Locating the problem is only half the job. Once the source is confirmed we carry out the repair, explain what was found and what has been done, and back the work with our workmanship warranty.
