Dishwasher Leaking? A Brisbane Plumber's Diagnostic Guide

    8 April 2026 5 min read

Puddles under the dishwasher are one of the most common callouts we get from Brisbane apartments. Nine times out of ten it's one of four things.

    1. Inlet Hose Connection

Isolation tap under the sink → braided hose → dishwasher inlet. Check the tap first, then the two hose ends. Braided hoses have a 10-year life; if yours is older, replace it before it bursts.

    2. Door Seal

Wipe the perimeter seal with a damp cloth. If water beads on the bottom edge after a cycle, the seal is deformed. Replacement is a 10-minute job.

    3. Drain Hose

Runs from pump to sink waste. Kinks, splits, or a loose clamp under the sink send water onto the cabinet floor.

    4. Pump or Sump

If the leak is from the base and none of the above are wet, the sump seal or pump housing has cracked — usually cheaper to replace the machine at that point.
